Of characters

Characters are tricky, especially the ones you want your readers to like. They can't be too awesome; strict moral code, good character, really good looking, really smart and perhaps an amazing ability that ultimately saves everyone. But they can't be too mean; no excessive child abuse, self-hatred, abhorring everything and everyone. The trick is to make your characters seem almost human. Tricky.
